Scientists in Costa Rica discovered a new species of frog, and it amazingly looks just like everyone’s favorite Muppet, Kermit.

The remarkable creature, named Diane’s bare-hearted glassfrog (Hyalinobatrachium dianae) after the mother of one of two scientists who discovered it, has a translucent belly that reveals its internal organs.

Its most striking feature is its big, white eyes that resemble Kermit the Frog.

Interestingly, scientists initially missed the frog when searching the area in which it was discovered. According to Brian Kubicki, the scientist who named the frog after his mother, the reason for not discovering it sooner was because of its call. The “advertisement call,” as it was described, is more like that of an insect than a frog and sounds like “a single tonal long metallic whistlelike note.”
