The newly elected mayor of London, England, believes a Hillary Clinton presidency would inspire girls around the world (video below).

“I’m the father of two daughters, and a proud feminist in city hall. Just imagine the message it sends to my daughters and to girls around the world that the president of the United States of America is a woman,” London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in support of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during a May 11 interview with CNN.

“Not any woman, a woman with the gravitas, with the experience… she’ll be an inspiration,” he continued. “I’m quite clear in my mind who I want to be the president of the USA.”

Khan, the son of Pakistani immigrants who was elected to office May 6, is the first Muslim mayor of a major Western capital city.

His praise for Clinton comes after he highly criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.

“My message to Donald Trump and his team is that your views of Islam are ignorant,” he said, according to The Hill. “It is possible to be a Muslim and live in the West. It is possible to be a Muslim and love America."
