Mischo Erban recently set a world record for the fastest speed on an electric skateboard -- 59.55 mph -- at the Portoroz airport in Piran, Slovenia (video below).

The 32-year-old daredevil used a NEXTBoard created by Next Generation Vehicles (NGV) to set his record, notes the Guinness World Records website.

Erban used a handheld remote control to adjust the speed on the modified longboard while racing down a runway.

Toward the end of his record-setting run on the four-wheel-drive longboard, Erban wiped out and hit the concrete hard.

Erban also set the record for the fastest skateboard speed downhill (standing) in 2012 at 80.74 mph in Les Eboulements, Quebec, Canada.

“I am attracted by speed – and have learned to master the danger," Erban said after setting this new record. "So it was natural to team with NEXTboards for another Guinness World Records title.”

Guinness World Records Editor-In-chief Craig Glenday added: “This is a truly incredible feat from both an engineering perspective as well as in the field of extreme sports. The pursuit of a world record can often lead to innovation, and here is another great example of just that.”

According to Erban's website,, he has "attended over 80 races, traveling to Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Brazil, Peru, Australia, South Africa, England and the United States."
