Horrific stories have surfaced about the things ISIS militants have done to kidnapped children and their families.
According to the Catholic News Agency, speakers at the #WeAreN2016 conference on religious freedom detailed their experiences as victims of ISIS.
One couple shared a story in which they opened their front door one day to find a plastic bag on their doorstep. Upon closer inspection, they realized that the bag contained their kidnapped daughter's remains, as well as a video showing her rape, torture and murder, reports Mad World News.
Another woman explained she answered her door one day and was told by ISIS fighters to leave her home or pay them a "jizya" tax. When she asked the militants for a few moments to get her daughter out of the shower, they set her home on fire, killing her daughter.
Other speeches including tales of families being captured and young women separated from their families to be raped and tortured.
"Why are these innocent kids and these innocent people suffering this much in that region?" 15-year-old Samia Sleman, who spent six months as an ISIS captive, asked at the conference. "Why don't we see any action being taken? Even though it's been over a year and a half now, we've seen horrible things happen to use minorities, especially Yazidis and Christians, in that region, and we don't see the international community taking concrete actions against the Islamic State."
