Referee Dominick Bedard was hit in the groin during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game on Feb. 11 in Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada (video below).

Bedard sent Francis Perron, of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, to the penalty box for two minutes for roughing.

Francis' older brother Alexandre Perron allegedly threw the beer can, hitting Bedard in the genitals, notes the New York Daily News.

Bedard was in such pain that he had to be examined by a trainer, but later returned to the game.

Alexandre was ejected from the game before being arrested and taken to a nearby police station, but law enforcement would not confirm the identity of the beer can thrower.

Mario Marois, vice president of the league, told people in the stands to point out the person who threw the can, notes the Le Journal de Montreal.

Marois called the incident "deplorable," and said there is "zero tolerance" for this type of action.
