ISIS reportedly froze 45 of its jihadist fighters to death for fleeing from advancing Iraqi forces.

The 45 ISIS fighters were alive when they were put in morgue freezers by their comrades in Mosul, Iraq, and left there for 24 hours, the American Herald Tribune reports. They slowly froze to death.

“ISIS executed 45 of its members who had fled the confrontations that were taking place with Iraqi forces in Heet district by putting them in morgue fridges for 24 hours, to later take out the frozen bodies and put it at the entrances of the city,” sources said.

The frozen bodies were displayed in the city as a warning to others considering desertion.

This is not the first time ISIS has killed its own fighters.

In March, the terrorist group released a video depicting two men being tied up in a building that was then blown up, Mirror reports.

The propaganda video, which was reportedly shot on March 8, was titled, “It does not benefit you to flee.”

The horrific act of freezing men to death falls in line with other methods of torture the terrorist group has used against captives, including drowning men in a cage in a swimming pool, burning hostages alive in cages, and strapping explosives to the heads of kneeling men.
