A family in southwest China has released pictures of a 3-year-old who they allege died at the hands of the child’s mother and her partner.
Pu Jinyu from Yunnan died on Dec. 19 after being admitted to critical care at Honghe Prefecture People's Hospital. Although the mother stated that the toddler had fallen off the bed, the child’s body was completely covered in bruises, according to Daily Mail.
Gao Cuifen, the child’s grandmother, stated that Pu was in her care from Nov. 28 to Dec. 10 without any injuries, which means that all of the marks appeared after the child left to be with his mother and her boyfriend.

Pu’s uncle, Cui Wenping, stated that he was called at 5 a.m. on Dec. 19 about the child reportedly falling off the bed and his subsequent hospital admission. When he arrived at the hospital, he was horrified to see the toddler’s black-and-blue body.
When he questioned the child’s mother about the bruises, she admitted that her boyfriend had hit the child, reports Daily Mail.
The grandmother also noted injuries on Pu’s body earlier this year. At the time, the bruises were said to have resulted from an accident in which he was burned at an aunt’s house. The grandmother stated that the child had been living with her mother and her family, and that Pu had told her that his maternal grandmother and mother’s boyfriend both abused him.

In October, mother in Birmingham, Alabama, played a role in the death of her infant daughter, reported NY Daily News. After leaving her child alone with five other children while she went to a nightclub with a friend, Katerra Lewis returned home to find that one of the children had beaten 1-year-old Kelci Devine Lewis to death.
The alleged 8-year-old assailant was charged with murder, making him the one of the youngest children murder suspects in the history of Jefferson County. Lewis was charged with manslaughter for leaving the infant alone with the children, who were between the ages of 2 and 8.
