A student in China has reportedly been carrying his disabled best friend to class every day for the past three years.
Xie Xu, an 18-year-old high school student, met 19-year-old Zhang Chi when they both started at Daxu High School in the city of Xuzhou. When Xu discovered Chi suffered from muscular dystrophy and was unable to walk, he decided to carry him around campus to make sure he got to all his classes.
“The story of the two students is so inspiring and touching. They aren't family, but (Xie) has been doing this for three years,” Vice Principal Guo Chunxi said. Both students live in neighboring dorms, and Xu helps Chi with everyday tasks like washing clothes and getting food. Xu sometimes escorts Chi to breakfast.

“He's the most beautiful student. He also exerts positive influence on other students, who readily help Zhang,” Chunxi said. “With their assistance, Zhang has never missed out on one single class.”
Chi and Xu’s story caused many readers on Reddit to raise questions about the school’s wheelchair accessibility and the treatment of disabled people in China.
“Wheelchair accessibility is not a concern in China. In 7 years there, the only times I saw a disabled person they were begging on the street,” Redditor CMX250 said.
