Car Melts In The Sun From Extreme Heat Wave

A British man captured the incredible moment (below) when a car melted in the sun during a brutal heat wave in Italy.

In the video, John Westbrook describes the scene as he makes his way around the car to show the incredible damage done by the intense heat wave taking place in the town of Caorle, Italy. Temperatures there hit 99 F.

“The car was parked parallel to the beach and had been there for a few days — it was just the pure heat of the sun beating down on it that made it melt,” he later told the Daily Mail.

“We drove past and just couldn't believe what we were seeing. Bits of the car were literally dripping off on to the road. Even bits of the bumper were melted and the wing mirrors were starting to buckle.”

The video shows the side mirrors, lights and fender all astonishingly melting away in the hot sun, with some portions of plastic dripping onto the road.

The incredible footage comes in the middle of an intense, record heat wave in northwestern Italy, which reportedly left 140 people dead within the first 10 days of July. Numerous precautions have been issued to keep people from spending too much time in the sun.
