A baby girl was found under a tree in a box with a "sold" sticker in Corby, Northamptonshire, U.K.

A passerby heard cries and discovered the infant, said to be between 3 and 6 weeks old, in the box on Sept. 28, BBC reports. The box had been under a tree in a residential area in Northamptonshire, and inside the infant was wearing a diaper and was wrapped in a blue blanket.

The box was located outside of 40-year-old Nana Konadu's house, reports.

"My cousin told me the box was found under a tree," Konadu, a mother of three, told "It is possible no one could have found the baby. It's so lucky someone found her."

The child was taken to Kettering General Hospital and police say she is in good health.

Northamptonshire Police released a photo of the infant in an attempt to find her mother. She has dark hair, dark eyes, and appears to be up to 6 weeks old.

In a press conference, Detective Superintendent Steve Lingley appealed to the mother.

"Your baby is safe and being well cared for," Lingley said. "I know you may feel you are in a very difficult position and I know it must have been incredibly difficult to have left your baby. Please get in touch with us, we want to make sure you are all right."

Officers are urging anybody with information to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Those who wish to leave information anonymously may contact Crimestoppers at 0800-555-111, or
