NBA Preview: Rockets vs. Timberwolves

| by

Hold you horses Rockets fans…it’s not time to jump ship on this team.  Yes they are 0-5…yes they are off to their worst start since 1999…but there are positives to take from these five games.  Houston is keeping up with the big contenders in the West.  Sure a couple of shots down the stretch didn’t fall, but they are hanging with the likes of the Lakers and the Spurs.  I am worried about AB and K-Mart though.  Brooks’ rolled ankle looked extremely painful, and while Martins’ didn’t look as bad you can’t lose both your leading scorer and team leader in assists and expect to pick it right back up.  Hopefully, what we talked about so much in the off-season (depth) will play a crucial role in tonight’s game.  Here are some things to think about while watching the Rockets take on the T-Wolves:

-Lead NBA in points in the paint PG  (51.2 PPG) with Yao playing limited minutes

-Tied third longest losing streak to start a season in franchise history.  In 1982-1983 the Rockets lost their first 10 games of the season, in 1971-1972 they lost their first 6 games and in 1999-2000 they had a streak of 5 losses in a row to begin the season

-Only NBA team without a victory this season

-Rockets have won 11 straight games overall vs MIN

-Rockets have won 7 straight road games vs MIN

-Luis Scola: 3 double-doubles in 5 games this season (10+ rebounds in 4 of 5 games)

-Have lost 4 straight and 5 of 6 this season

-Have lost 11 straight games to HOU

-Have lost by a combined 104 points in their last 4 games

-Kevin Love: double-double in 4 of 6 games this season
