What's Scarier Than a Haunted House? A Factory Farm
Every Halloween, countless people visit haunted houses to be “spooked” by make-believe ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Meanwhile, real horrors are taking place in factory farms and slaughterhouse.Billions of terrified animals are confined to filthy, crowded warehouses, cages, and crates. Chickens and turkeys have parts of their sensitive beaks seared off with hot blades. Piglets’ teeth and ears are cut, their tails are chopped off, and males have their testicles ripped out. Cows are castrated, branded, and dehorned. All of these agonizing procedures are done without painkillers.
At the slaughterhouse, the frantic animals are often scalded alive or dismembered while they’re still conscious.
If you plan to watch scary videos this Halloween, than watch the footage from PETA’s shocking undercover investigations of various factory farms and slaughterhouses. But be warned; the horrifying scenes will give you nightmares. Animals feel pain every bit as much as we do, are haunted by the sights and smells of the slaughterhouse, and are afraid to die.
They wouldn’t have to fear knife-wielding killers and maniacal farm workers if everyone went vegetarian. (And people wouldn’t have to fear animal-borne diseases and other diet-related illnesses if we stopped raising and killing so many animals for food.)
Along with a selection of vegan Halloween candy, many PETA staffers and other caring individuals give trick-or-treaters and party-goers stickers or literature to help them adopt a blood-free diet. Only a real creep would support real pain and terror, after all.

I own a farm and i am sick of you holier than thou politically correct fanatical nutcases trying to say i am doing something wrong.. We farmers feed millions of people a yr grains, meat and milk and i own no one an apology because i love putting a steak or burger on the grill.. love my thanksgiving turkey and my sunday fried chicken... my sons grew up on this farm and they are totally healthy and so am i and my husband.. our colestrol is perfect..hearts fine and dr said we were sickeningly healthy probably far more healthy than some of the bleeding hearts who starve themselves and their bodies with carrot sticks and lettuce...farm life is the backbone of this country and farmers owe no one any apology they tend to their own business and do not go around telling anyone what they should or should not do or eat...These pale Vegans or however they say it who are so iron poor they are too weak to get around can live that way but me i go to bet full and warm and sleep fine while they lay there worrying about some silly turkey or pig...

Alternative to Horror
Visit a slaughterhouse, factory farm operation. Not that you'd be allowed to, these places hide themselves as much as possible, for good reason.
The closest most of us can get are the undercover videos , which are sad beyond words. No living creature deserves what is done to them.
There are farms and farmers who practice responsibly, who treat their animals well, who value them and care for them. Mostly they are small farms, but they are everywhere.
Check out eatwell.org...wonderful info there whatever you choose to eat.
