Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Ryan Dunn Funeral

Those fine upstanding, tolerant folks at the Westboro Baptist Church have announced that they will protest at the funeral of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn, saying Dunn "is a drab pervert" who "is in hell."

What is their beef with Dunn? In a news release, the church said Dunn's work on "Jackass" promoted "porn-level filth… to get rich off a perverse generation."

The New York Daily News said the release went on:

"In His wrath, God cut off this young man in the prime of his life, because he made a mock of sin, and taught his fellow man to grievously sin against God!"

A private memorial service in Pennsylvania was held without issue on Wednesday, but the church said it will "picket any public memorial/funeral held for Dunn, warning all not to make a mock of sin, & to fear and obey God!"

CNN reports that a public funeral is planned, and police are ready.

"Our department recognizes that we have an ethical and legal imperative to uphold civil rights of those who choose to lawfully assemble to protest," West Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn told CNN, "but also of family members mourning at a funeral."

Dunn and a passenger were killed early Monday morning when his car went off the road and burst into flames. Dunn was driving as fast as 140 mph and had a blood-alcohol level of .196.
