ESPN.com has released their latest bowl projections and once again, both our squads are listed. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Andrea Adelson both have the Cards in the BBVA Compass Bowl (formerly the Birmingham and Papajohns.com bowl), while they have the Cats in the Autozone Liberty Bowl.
The BBVA Compass bowl features a match-up between a Big East vs. SEC teams, unless not enough teams qualify from those conferences, etc. Schlabach has Louisville facing off with Ohio, who is not in the SEC last time I checked so I guess he’s assuming some teams won’t get bowl eligible.
His colleague has the Cards facing off with Georgia, which would be very interesting because Louisville opens the 2011 season at Georgia.
Those two both have the Cats once again returning to the state of Tennessee to face Central Florida in the Autozone Liberty Bowl. I’m not sure that would happen because the Liberty Bowl is on December 31, which happens to be the day of the UofL-UK basketball game.
Again, these are just projections and both our squads have to secure bowl eligibility first before worrying about where they’re headed.
Here’s who they have for the big five bowls:
