Octopus Uses Tool On Ocean Floor

| by Daisy Mason

The rare “Coconut Octopus” causes a stir in the marine biology community. Researchers published a study on the amphioctopus marginatus back in 2009. According to their report, this species engages in activities previously thought to be performed only by humans. The coconut octopus is being closely watched by scientists everywhere. Biologists think this species could help us better understand animal intelligence, and point us toward other toolusing species in the Western Pacific Ocean.
