UFC 131 Analysis: Omigawa Robbed of 1st UFC Win vs. Darren Elkins

”As visions of Griffin vs. Lentz in Auburn Hills danced in their heads.”

UFC 131 got off to an unfortunate start tonight with Michihiro Omigawa being robbed of victory against Darren Elkins. Omigawa has had a tough go under the UFC Banner but no loss can come as disappointing as this one. Omigawa drops to 0-4 in the UFC and 12-10-1 career after the judges scored this one (29-28 x 2, 30-27) for Elkins.

Omigawa switched stances and changed levels for the duration of the contest using his unorthodox movements to do bloody up his opponents face in a number of different places. While the 1st Round could have gone either way with Elkins scoring a takedown that was immediately turned into a heel hook attempt from his opponent , the final 2 were all Omigawa.

UFC Boss Dana White tweeted his thoughts about the robbery after the fight which pretty much secures Omigawa’s job as a UFC Fighter even with his win less streak hitting pink slip status.
