Turkish Airlines Plane Crashes in Amsterdam, Kills 9

A plane crash in Amsterdam has killed a reported nine people and injured more than 50 others today. The Turkish Airlines flight was carrying 135 passengers when it crashed in a field well short of its intended runway, severing the plane into three pieces and sending the aircraft's engines flying.

The tragedy in Amsterdam is the latest in a sudden string of high profile airplane crashes. A crash landing of a US Airways flight into the Hudson River miraculously resulted in no serious injuries, and more recently a smaller aircraft struck a home in Buffalo, New York, killing everyone on board.

There is no word yet as to the cause of the crash of the Turkish Airlines flight.
