Toronto Sun Puts the 'Ass' in Classless
It is certainly no surprise that the expulsion of Tory Helena Guergis from the federal Conservative cabinet has given the national leftwing media entities much fodder to fill their pages and airtime. Also not surprising is the 'double-standard' debate reigniting: if Guergis was a Liberal, would the media be giving her the TMZ treatment?
Make no mistake - I am not defending Helena Guergis or her equally pratfall-prone husband Rahim Jaffer for their actions, whether they have been made public or not. When Prime Minister Stephen Harper flips from supporting you to giving you the boot, I have to believe the reasons are more than warrented.
What is shocking is what I saw on the cover of the Toronto Sun:
Garbage journalism at it's best.
The political bias of the Toronto Sun is no surprise to anyone in Canada, but this goes beyond politcal opinion.
Would they have dared equate a female leftwing politican to a 'dog'? Of course not. Could you imagine the outcry from women's rights groups if a rightwing publication printed a picture of New Democrat Olivia Chow, calling her a dog? The walls would be on fire over that.
The brass at the Toronto Sun have managed once again to lower the bar. They have reached a new personal worst.
Simply classless.

First, you can't even tell a right wing paper rag from a left wing rag
Second, you can't recognize a wind up
Third, newspapers , especially tabloids, depend on shock to sell....and newspapers are in decline so prepare for more shocks people.
She's a dog..in that she's political dog...maybe the bitch part was implied, granted.
But here's the point......if it was a man and the headline was two asses with a donkey...would anyone have complained.

Your headline is priceless, yet some that follows is incorrect.
The Toronto Sun is very much right-leaning and always has been.
That being said, this front page is a reflection of not only poor journalism (not that journalism is something practiced at the Sun) but a lack of taste and obvious professionalism. Unfortunately the employees' substandard expectations of journalism, which includes a lifetime of ignorance, allows them to triumph over a continuous lack of success.
I concur with others. this makes no sense.
The Sun is rightwing not left
While I agree with the bulk of what you posted, I am confused because it sounds like you are saying that the Toronto Sun is a left wing rag. It is the opposite of that!
They delight in cheering for the Conservative Government and they put down anyone or anything which is remotely left. Perhaps you are confused.
Still, the point of your post is well taken. No woman should be compared to a dog. Women are treated very poorly by media when they have any position of power. Men do not get the same shabby treatment . I happen to live in Ms. Guergis's riding and I am no fan but that cover was unfair.

You appear to be implying that the Sun is left-wing in its political orientation. To which I say...."whaaa?"
