iPhone 5 Photos Leaked, Confirming Wider Screen and New Dock Connector

| by

A phone repair company has unveiled photos of what they claim to be the official front cover of Apple's newest iPhone. The photos provide concrete evidence to the rumors that have been swirling around about the phone for months.

Most notably, the photos confirm a new dock connector and a larger screen.

The phone will be thinner than the iPhone 4S, having a thickness of 7.6mm, two millimeters thinner.

The next iPhone, which hasn't officially been named yet, will be announced by Apple on September 12. Pre-orders will be opened immediately afterward.

Photos reveal the iPhone's small "dock connector," which would leave older charger and docks completely useless unless an adapter is utilized.

This means thousands of Apple accessories won't be able to be used with the device. But leaks from Apple sources have suggested that the company plans to change the docks on all new devices, including the iPod Nano, iPod Touch, iPad Mini, and future iPad versions.

There's also rumors that an adaptor will be released so the older accessories can be used by the new iPhone.

Sources have indicated that the "nano-SIM" slot has been redesigned, making it even thinner than it already was. Users won't experience much hassle with this redesign, however, since networks will provide SIM replacements.

The new iPhone is expected to launch on September 21, just over a week from when it will be officially announced.
