The Associated Press reports on a Michigan hunting accident:

Authorities in western Michigan say a 59-year-old deer hunter accidentally shot himself to death as he climbed a tree stand.

The Chattanoogan reports on the death of a young veteran:

A 21-year-old National Guardsman from Whitwell has died in a gun accident at his home. Joshua Aaron “Red” Meeks, 21, was displaying a new handgun to friends when the weapon went off on Saturday night. He was struck in the head and died instantly.

And the Charlotte Observer reports on a teen’s inadvertent shooting:

Gastonia police say a teenager was killed Monday morning when a shotgun went off while he and another man were trying to unload it… The shooting happened about 9:45 a.m. at an apartment in the 600 block of Glenn Street. Police say they arrived to find 17-year-old Christopher Lowery seriously injured with a gunshot wound in the stomach. He died later of the wound.
