Today Show to GLAAD: Let's Talk About Gay Couples
Yesterday we asked you to help us call on NBC to open the Today Show “Modern Day Wedding Contest” to same-sex couples who are now excluded from participating. So far over three-thousand people have written to NBC to voice their concerns.
Late this afternoon we received a phone call from NBC asking GLAAD to meet tomorrow with Today Show Executive Producer, Jim Bell and key NBC communications representatives.
We have accepted NBC’s invitation us to sit face to face and discuss the Today Show wedding contest. We will be standing firm in urging the network to do the right thing and open the contest.
What GLAAD wants is the same thing that the thousands of people who wrote to NBC want. We want committed same-sex couples to have the same opportunity to share our stories of love and commitment and to be considered for this exciting wedding competition.
We will report back to you with any new developments after the meeting.

But the runner up - who got a $7500 consolation prize wedding was a gay DC married couple.
Make sure that NBC isn't living in the dark ages.
Earlier tonight we happened to be watching a show about a recreated Orient Express train. And one car was full of newly weds - this is in Europe - and my wife remarked - hey, look at the gay couple they have there.
