College Basketball: Tim Fuller Leaving Louisville for Missouri

| by

Remember all that talk yesterday about the dream recruiting duo of Richard Pitino and Tim Fuller? That lasted about 18 hours. Fox Sports.com’s Jeff Goodman is reporting today Tim Fuller has accepted a position on Frank Haith’s staff at Missouri, thus ending his one year tenure as an assistant at Louisville. Why Missouri you may ask? Well, Fuller and Haith are extremely tight and it appears that relationship was enough for the man we referred to as ‘Prime Time’ Tim to bolt.

The obvious question now becomes what happens to top 2012 commit Rodney Purvis?

Fuller was approximately 96-99% of the reason Purvis committed to Louisville and with Fuller leaving, it will be an uphill battle to keep Purvis in the fold. Rick Pitino will need to move quickly to fill Fuller’s spot and I imagine he would look to a recruiter, more than an Xs and Os coach. However, my speculation track record has been awful of late, so pretty much expect the opposite of what I think will happen to occur.

Update – Here’s a statement from Tim Fuller, courtesy of UofLSports.com:

“Frank Haith has been like a father to me. He’s been a part of my life since I was a freshman in college and has helped mentor, advise and direct me in every aspect as a person and professionally. I’m so thankful for everything that Coach Pitino has done for me at Louisville. He’s helped change my way of thinking and drive me toward perfection. At this time in my life, being with Frank Haith at Missouri is a family decision and it’s the best fit for us right now.”
