Retreat and Location Details
Ebbio is a magical place surrounded by an evergreen forest, nestled in the heart of an ancient volcano that was sacred to the Etruscans. Located in the breathtaking countryside of Tuscany, it is only 42 km from Florence, 11 km from Siena, 9 km from Castellina in Chianti and 1km from Monteriggioni, a little medieval jewel. Ebbio is an 800 year old classic Tuscan farmhouse converted into a charming yoga retreat. Looking out one of the many windows of the different accommodations in Ebbio, you will be captivated by the undulating hills swept with thriving vineyards, olive trees and enchanting evergreen forests. The amazing part of Ebbio is that it is still a working, organic Tuscan farm with its own Chianti wine production.
Ebbio’s restaurant serves vegetarian meals only. Most of the produce comes from their organic production. The picnic on the day of the ocean excursion is included; lunches during other excursions are not included (usually one.)
Meals are served in the outside porch if the weather is warm; otherwise upstairs in a common living / dining room. Water and seasonal fruit are available throughout the day.
The accommodation is in double, triple, and quadruple rooms. All rooms are cute and cozy and have a special name. There is about 1 bathroom every 2 rooms. All bathrooms are different, some with showers, some with bathtubs. There is also a bathroom with showers off the yoga room. Max number of people: The farmhouse can host up to 24 people.
Details: Price includes all meals, daily yoga practice, 8 day/7 night accommodations, and day excursions. The event will combine daily yoga practice with a gourmet cooking class and tours of Tuscan farms, vineyards, and country life.
Jennifer originally comes from Philadelphia by way of NYU before landing in L.A. Starting with Iyengar Yoga, she discovered that yoga helped her to heal many aspects of her life: from depression to injuries from being a runner. She has studied with Annie Carpenter extensively and is the director of Yoga Teachers for So Cal’s chapter of YogaBear (a non-profit that provides free yoga to cancer survivors). She also teacher free yoga to kids and adults with special needs, after being inspired by her nephew Blaise, who has Prader Willi Syndrome.
Dhyana & John Vitarelli
Dhyana is the Founder of Dhyana Yoga, with studios in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Her Yoga experience was at first just something to do that was relaxing in her busy life, but over time it ended up being the thing that helped her crawl out from under a lifetime struggle with depression and suicidal impulses. The moments of peace and glimpses of freedom experiened in Yoga and Meditation slowly but surely helped her appreciate the gift of being alive, and naturally a desire to share this realization with others arose, and so she began teaching and sharing her story.
John has been practicing a variety of internal and external arts throughout the past decade. These include Chen Style Tai Chi, White Crane Gong Fu, and a number of Qi Gong styles. He completed his Yoga Teacher Training at Dhyana Yoga in Philadelphia.
