The Abortion Battle Moves to State License Plates
Pro-abort Carolyn Carlin copied me on a letter she sent to FL Gov. Charlie Crist re: FL's Choose Life license plates. Click to enlarge:

Well, this will be fun.
First, the reason there is no "Pro Choice" license plate in FL is because Carolyn's people a) can't get their act together; and b) can't raise the money.
3 years ago the FL National Organization for Women launched such a campaign, 6 months later announcing its winning plate design, "United for Choice," strangely showing baby stars shooting heavenward from inside a mommy star. View news story here.
Since then NOW disavowed itself from the effort, and apparently pro-aborts got so much flak for the baby stars plate they abandoned it, too.
Currently the the remaining group, LicenseToChoose.org, shows 2 new samples. The tiny female symbol in the bottom plate inaccurately portrays an aborted baby girl. It should be mangled.
Nevertheless, the pro-aborts' other problem is they need to raise $75k. In 3 years they have only mustered $5k according to their little thermometer.
As for Carolyn's accusation that FL Choose Life proceeds are going to a "political belief," here's where the money goes, according to the law:
"... not-for-profit agencies... [with] services... limited to counseling and meeting the physical needs of pregnant women who are committed to placing their children for adoption. Funds may not be distributed to any agency that is involved or associated with abortion activities...."
Why Carolyn considers adoption too "political" is not beyond me, given her pro-death proclivity.
Finally, after receiving her criminal attorney husband's expert legal advice, Carolyn has determined, "This issue is now more appropriately addressed at the Federal level, and as such I have focused my attentions in that direction."
I suspect Carolyn's husband simply wanted her out of his hair chasing legal rabbits, either that or the pair is equally matched in ignorance, because the FL Choose Life license plate endeavor already won in federal court. In fact, Choose Life has won federal court lawsuits in AZ, CA, MO, OK, and TN, too. OH pro-aborts withdrew their case after the TN loss. Pro-lifers did lose in SC, but legislators proceeded to change the law and approved Choose Life plates.
Here are the 22 states Carolyn should avoid so she won't be "speachless" upon entry when seeing Choose Life plates on the road (click to enlarge)
5 more states have approved Choose Life plates, but they are not in production yet. Still Carolyn should avoid them, because we never know when the first ones will appear. They are: AZ, DE, ND, NM, and VA.
Whoops, scratch VA. CBS reported yesterday its first Choose Life plate became available July 1.
14 other states are working on getting plates.
It appears Carolyn is running out of states to revel in her pro-abortion fantasies unbothered. There are 2 states offering pro-abortion plates, MT, and HI, atlhough I must say the MT plate looks pro-life, not pro-abortion.
Strange that more pro-abort groups haven't jumped on the opportunity to show their posses are bigger than ours via direct competition of plate sales. But therein lies the problem. Theirs aren't. Read the following and weep. HI may soon say aloha to its pro-death plate:

I have mixed reactions to these state license plates. I am a free speech absolutist. I believe that people have a near-absolute right to express their opinion (short of yelling "fire" in a theater). I'm a Jew who opposes censorship of Nazi propaganda. I want to know who these people are and where they are. Even though it turns my stomach, I want to see their swastika tattoos and hear their idiotic arguments. I believe the same way about these anti-liberty pseudo-Christian fanatics. When driving around the country, they let me see where I want to stop, and do business and where I want to keep driving. I have some problem with this message being on official state plates, as it implies an endorsement of their position by the state but I suppose if a pro-choice plate is available, that is somewhat neutralized. That's the thing about freedom of speech; I don't have to like what I hear.
The fact is, the imposition of religious bigotry is their only political issue. They have no other agenda and no awareness of the fact that our country is facing a perfect storm of crises. On every other issue they fall in with a conservative line of ill-logic that is thoroughly discredited and detract from the formation of a genuinely conservative Republican Party that could form a useful counterpoint to liberalism and make a loyal opposition that would lead to improved policy. Today's GOP can't do that with this batch of whack- jobs .
These fanatics add nothing and take away a great deal from our public dialogue. Just look at all of the time this lone looney-tune has inspired so many of us to use up in the defense of liberty.
Very well said, Joey. I couldn't agree more.
I say keep politics off license plates. It's bad enough we have bumper stickers and other junk to voice our political views we shouldnt have the state sanctioned license plates be yet another battleground for political crap.
I DO kind of enjoy your bitterness and sarcasm! It's funny. As a game for myself, I will go ahead and make a donation to my local NARAL in your name for each time you pretend to be smarter than the person you are answering.-:)
You're still operating under the idea that pro-choice means pro-death. You're also assuming all abortions are choices made due to irresponsibility and I'm really confused as to where you're getting this "billions of dollars" idea. I guess the cheaper option would be a hanger? Is that your ultimate goal? Because regardless of the law , women have and will continue to make that decision. It's sad, but true. There's no need for suffering. What you need to realize is that the women who make these choices are decent people in difficult situations. I'm sure you know a few, but they might be too afraid to admit it because of your obvious hate towards a situation that you can't fathom.
Also, I'm not opposed to the idea of making adoption more affordable. I don't understand why they're so expensive to begin with. And I'm with jheimer, we're only interested in this argument because we want to keep the law on our side.
Sanity and reason fly right out the window with the anti-choicers. Because you know, being pro-choice means you LOVE the idea of abortion and have them for fun.
It's rather comforting to be on the intelligent, sane (and legal !) side of this debate, and I doubt I'll waste anymore time with the nutjobs (in this case, 1 nutjob - perhaps her friends are out holding signs) other than to say this:
Most of us know that there isn't a large group of women out there using abortion as a method of birth control. In fact, we work towards promoting birth control. Walk into a Planned Parenthood clinic sometime. We work towards keeping all options legal and we listen to Physicians. We aren't controlled by the propaganda you are fed and the only reason we pay attention at all is to make sure that abortion STAYS legal.
This is why I can't be bothered to care about your license plates.
It's disgusting that someone would think that pro-choicers enjoy the idea of mangled babies. No one that I know of has ever made claim that it's an easy choice, but sometimes, it's a necessary one.
In case you weren't aware, condoms aren't 100% effective. And not to say this is every case, but do you think the people who choose not to be responsible in their sex lives would be responsible as parents? No one is saying these choices are desirable or respectable, even, in some cases, but it's reality. There are so many children who do not have homes, who do not have foster parents. There are the kids who slip through the cracks, are neglected and abused by either the bio parents or the fosters. Adoption is not always a realistic option. It's a very expensive process that only a fraction of Americans can afford, especially in today's economic slump. I would love to see every child born into loving, wonderful homes. When that's possible, abortion should be illegal. When every birth is a healthy one, abortion can be illegal. Until then, it's necessary.
Ahh yes, in a utopia that you'll create by killing babies it will be unnecessary/illegal to kill babies. Makes...perfect...sense.
How about spending the billions and billions of $$ that's spent every single year on abortions foreign & domestic and use it instead to care for children who were actually given a chance to live. Adoption doesn't cost the birth mother 1 red cent. Give all that money to help people adopt children. Subsidies are given to abortion clinics to make abortion affordable...hey here's a radical idea...use that money instead to make adoption more affordable!
Again, if you can't handle the consequences of an action, don't perform the action...i.e. keep your legs closed. It's really not that difficult of a concept to grasp.
I’d say that many people who are pro-choice would not have a licence plate expressing this view because they are afraid their automobile would be vandalized by the pro-sticking your nose in other people’s business crowd. You can easily tell which side is wrong on an issue – the side that resorts to violence and intimidation to get their way. Just look at the demonstrators outside of abortions clinics, as well as the bombings of abortion clinics, and the murder of physicians who provide abortion services. These tactics are similar to those used by Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
First I'd like to congratulate Greg on being the first person to deal with the subject rather then just name calling. People who are " pro-life " do not condone violence and certainly not the killing of the abortion doctor . But many are in favor of capital punishment and aginst gun control . Not exactly pro-life.
But the problem with pro-choice plates isn't that people would be afraid that pro-life supporters will vandalize their car,but that pro-life supporters are more single minded and much more likely to buy plates then pro-choice supporters.
