Jen Palmer’s Negative Review Of Website That Never Delivered Order Leads To $3,500 Fine

A woman who never received the merchandise her husband ordered for her on a website posted a negative comment about the company online. Now, she and her husband have been hit with a $3,500 fine.

KUTV reports that Jen Palmer's husband ordered her a number of items from the website However, the products were never sent so the transaction was automatically cancelled by Paypal, Palmer said.

She tried calling the company, but could never reach anyone and she decided to write a negative review on

"There is absolutely no way to get in touch with a physical human being," it says, and accuses of having "horrible customer service practices."

Three years later, her husband got an email from the company demanding that the post be taken down or they would be fined, according to Consumerist.

The company cited a “non-disparagement contract” within its terms of sale with a clause that it says gives it the right to demand such a fine:

“In an effort to ensure fair and honest public feedback, and to prevent the publishing of libelous content in any form, your acceptance of this sales contract prohibits you from taking any action that negatively impacts, its reputation, products, services, management or employees.”

Palmer reportedly contacted to ask that the post be removed, but won't let her without paying $2,000, she said.

Not paying the fine has resulted in problems for the Palmer's credit and the family is now receiving rejection letters from lenders as they apply for loans to buy a new car and fix their home's furnace.
