NYPD Officers Pose in Uniforms on Dating Web Sites
New York City police officers are reportedly posting pictures of themselves in uniform on dating websites such as OkCupid and Match.com.
In some dating profile pictures, the officers even pose next to police cars and motorcycles.
One NYPD officer poses next to his police motorcycle and writes how he likes "girls with respect for themselves."
However, this sounds like a violation of NYPD policy.
"Members of the police department are prohibited from posting photographs of themselves in uniform without the prior authorization," John J. McCarthy, NYPD deputy commissioner told the Daily Mail.
"This does not include photographs taken during official department ceremonies. This directive is in compliance with the New York City Social Media Policy and is in part intended to protect officers from divulging identifying information on social media sites that may endanger officer safety. Members of the service found to be in violation of the order may be subject to disciplinary action."
The Daily Mail also found U.S. Marines and firemen wearing their uniforms in their dating website profiles.
On OkCupid, a U.S. Marine poses in his uniform and states: "Music is passion in the form of sound."
