The controversial adultery website AshleyMadison.com is upping the stakes, guaranteeing that members will have an affair or their money back.
Website founder Noel Biderman spoke about the new promotion with the Herald Sun in Australia. Ironically, Biderman was in Australia to renew his wedding vows.
"I think people sometimes mistakenly assume that Ashley Madison is just an online brothel," he said.
Biderman said that is not the case -- you can't just go on and find someone with whom to have an affair. You have to work on it, he said, just like you have to work on a marriage.
"If you want to find the right level of success, we think there is the commitment level you need to make, and if it doesn't work out for you then we'll give you your money back."
The website outlines the offer:
Under the AshleyMadison.com Affair Guarantee Program, if you don't find someone within the initial 3 months after purchasing the "Affair Guarantee" Membership Package, we'll refund you $249, being the amount you paid for participating in the Program.
The site says it has more than five million members.
No word yet on how AshleyMadison would confirm whether an individual has or hasn't engaged in an affiar.
