Americans Top the World for Online Porn Use in 2013

0

America trails the world in everything from health care to education, but the US was able to win the title for most online porn use in 2013, which makes this a back-to-back win as Americans also won in 2012.

The highly-trafficked website PornHub.com (1.68 million visits per hour) released its year-end numbers, which break down the consumption of pornography into various categories.

The world average for the amount of time spent on a porn website is 8 minutes and 56 seconds, but the US tops that with an average use of 10 minutes and 39 seconds.

The most popular search word used by Americans on the PornHub.com search engine was "teen," which is also a popular search term in Mexico and Germany.

The most popular month for porn use in the US is January, which is likely because of the cold weather outside, notes Gizmodo. August is when Americans are least likely to be pleasuring themselves with adult content.

Monday is the preferred day to view strangers having sexual intercourse, but Americans are likely to be taking a break from X-rated material on Thursday.

Four of the five top porn-using US states (time-wise) are in the Bible belt. Mississippi was number one, followed by Hawaii, Arkansas, Alabama and Louisiana.

When it comes to devices used for viewing explicit sexual activity, computer desktops are at 51 percent, cell phones are used 40 percent of the time and tablets bring up the rear at 9 percent.

Porn use dropped by 6 percent during the finale of "Walking Dead" on AMC, 5 percent during the last episode of "American Idol" and fell by 3 percent during the "NCIS" season premiere on Sept. 24.
