Boston Dynamics has created a 6-foot humanoid robot named "Atlas" for the "DARPA Robotics Challenge."
DARPA is short for "Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency," a U.S. government agency.
According to Fast Company, the government-sponsored contest is supposed to be for robots that can help people in disasters, however, DARPA is famous for trying to create new military weapons, so that could be a possibility as well.
Atlas, which looks like the "Terminator" robot played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, can survive being knocked over by a 20-pound weight, climb over barriers and navigate itself somewhat.
The robot is already a hit on the web, with over 100,000 views today on YouTube (video below).
