E3 Day Zero Game Announcements

0

Every year, the Monday before the expo floor opens for E3 there are a series of press conferences and every gaming entertainment journalist and blogger sits with bated breath and rapt attention.  Ah, so cliché! And while it is, cliché, it is also a tradition that allows us to give our undivided attention to the major players before hitting the floor for Vegas-like overstimulation.  While there was very little in the way of surprises, the anticipation is not diminished.   Below we’ve highlighted some of the game announcements:

Far Cry 4 (Ubisoft) – scheduled for release November 18, 2014  [farcrygame.com]

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Activision) – scheduled for release November 4, 2014

Fable Legends (Lionhead/Microsoft) – beta scheduled for Fall 2014, release TBA  *Xbox Exclusive

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (CD Projekt Red) – schedule for release February 24, 2015

Phantom Dust (Microsoft) – release in 2015 TBA  *Xbox Exclusive

Sunset Overdrive (Microsoft) – scheduled for release October 28, 2014  *Xbox Exclusive

Halo Master Chief Collection (343/Microsoft) – scheduled for release November 11, 2014 with Halo 5 multiplayer  *Xbox exclusive

Stars Wars Battlefront (LucasArts/EA) – release in 2015 TBA

Dragon Age Inquisition (BioWare/EA) – scheduled for release October 7, 2014

The Sims 4 (EA) – scheduled for release September 2, 2014

Battlefield Hardline (Visceral/EA) – scheduled for release October 21, 2014

Assassin’s Creed Unity (Ubisoft) – scheduled for release October 28, 2014

The Division (Ubisoft) – release in 2015 TBA

Tom Clancy’s Rainbox Six Siege (Ubisoft) – release in 2015 TBA

Destiny (Acitivision) – scheduled for release September 9, 2014

Super Smash Bros. 4 (Nintendo) – scheduled for release October 3, 2014

New chapters in both Mass Effect (EA) and Zelda (Nintendo) were teases but nothing concrete just yet.  It’s clear the Halo Master Chief Collection, which will include a Halo 5 multiplayer, is meant to pick up the slack in Xbox One sales – I suspect it’s a good move.

A silly debate that ensues each year for who won the battle of the press conferences.  This year’s winner, and still reigning champ, gamers!
