Switcheroo: Jose Canseco Sends Twin Brother Ozzie to Box

We see movies and television shows about twins who try to fool people by switching places with each other, but that never happens in real life, right? It does it you are the Canseco brothers. But unlike in fiction, they weren't fooling anybody.

Former baseball all-star and self-proclaimed steroid "godfather," Jose Canseco (he's the one on the right in the photo above) was scheduled to take part in a celebrity boxing match in Miami over the weekend. He apparently was having some kind of dispute with the promoter and decided he didn't want to fight. Instead of just backing out, he sent his twin brother Ozzie in his place.

According to a report on Yahoo Sports, everything went all right during Friday's weigh in -- Ozzie, who also played briefly in the major leagues, wore sunglasses and a t-shirt and no one knew the difference.

However the jig was up when he took his shirt off on Saturday, and it was revealed that the twins are not identical enough.

"We discovered the Canseco who showed up was Ozzie when he took off his shirt and didn't have Jose's tattoos on the biceps that appear in our advertising," a Celebrity Boxing representative told El Nuevo Herald.

The fight was canceled and the Miami Herald reports that police officers escorted Ozzie out of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Jose went on Twitter to say that promoter Damon Feldman "did not fulfill his part of the bargain," although he didn't specify what that meant. However, sources say Feldman paid Canseco the agreed-upon $10,000 fee.

Jose also warned people not to believe what they read:

let’s see who is smart enough to figure out what happened at the boxing match... is anyone out there smart enough to figure it out or are you all a bunch of hateful morons
