If this isn’t the last straw for Jerramy Stevens then we don’t know what is. The troubled tight end has had numerous run-ins with the law, but has been clean since joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007. That is until he was arrested on Saturday night.
Stevens was arrested in Hillsborough County on charges of possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The first two charges are felonies.
We don’t know what to say about this guy other than that he has “bad apple” written all over him. Especially if you are particularly not fond of people who rape other people. Just Google “Jerramy Stevens rape” and see what you get. This guy has “Big Ben’s Wing Man” written all over him. Hell, Roethlisberger might have to be his wing man.
There are many in Tampa that didn’t want anything to do with this guy from the very beginning. He’s been involved with rape cases, noise violations, hit-and-runs, DUI’s, you name it. And he’s simply not good enough to justify the headache.
And the Bucs don’t seem all that thrilled about this either. They issued a statement regarding the arrest.
“We’re deeply disappointed by this news. We take such matters seriously,” team spokesman Jonathan Grella said. “Obviously, Jerramy Stevens will not be participating today. We will address this matter with the seriousness it deserves, but in the meantime, we’re focused on the Rams game.”
He has three catches this year for 42 yards, so he can’t be too difficult to part ways with. As far as I’m concerned the NFL should have been done with him a long time ago.
