Spring Showers, But Still Running Hours

| by Fit Bottomed Girls

It’s the answer to the coat problem: Jackets are seriously a Fit Bottomed Girl’s best friend. They come in handy when you need to keep your muscles warm, avoid harsh winds, stay dry, and look rough and stuff with your anti-puff (gear). The folks at Nike figured out jackets are a necessary accessory and upped the ante on this basic. Last fall, they invited me to come to Chicago to take a look-see at the spring collection. I drooled, gasped and even got in an ooh and an ahhh during the presentation. What can I say? I’m a sucker for athletic clothing that has both function and form. (i.e. It works, and it’s pretty to look at.)

Vipor Jacket

Every time I see the design on the hood of this jacket I start to sing the “Pin wheel, pin wheel spinning around” song. The repetition in that song is kind of fun and energetic—and gives a whole new meaning to your clothes inspiring a run. Not only does it have a snazzy hood that can be rolled down and stored pretty darn easily, but the jacket also offers cuffs that fold over to keep the warm in and the cold out. It uses Dri-FIT technology to keep the April showers at bay, too. If I could marry a jacket, I might just marry this one.

Cyclone Jacket

If FBG Jenn could marry a jacket, she’d probably marry this one. Forever a polka dot luvah, she’d get the pretty and the performance all in one. The dots have a purpose! They help you stay dry and comfortable by creating air space. Translation? You’re not going to get wet on your long run, people!

Phantom Vapor Jacket

I’m not gonna lie to you. The Phantom Vapor Jacket is for bad fit bottomed asses only. I say this for one reason alone: It is HELLA expensive! Coming in at 300 bones with no sales in the near future, this jacket is for the serious folks who are investing in apparel for the ridiculous elements. I watched the demonstration at the Chi Town event where a fella took a glass of water and poured it on the jacket. Every bit of moisture just rolled off. People were geeking, I’ll admit. The kicker is it’s still highly breathable, it stretches and moves with your body perfectly, and there are no annoying seams to get in your way. (Better not be for $300!)

Go Getter Jacket

A must-have for the season, this modern, Dri-FIT performance jacket in the old school-track jakcet-silhouette is ideal for warming up or going to and from workouts. Cool features include a diagonal stripe pattern at chest and back, pop color-zippers, underarm eyelets for ventilation, and an upgraded rib collar at neck, cuffs and waistband for added comfort.

Micro Fiber Half-Zip

This lightweight micro-fiber half-zip is the perfect outdoor running jacket for the season. Water-resistant woven outer layer provides the first layer of protection from the elements, while strategically placed mesh-ventilation zones on the front and across the back allow heat to escape as you log the miles.
