Video: At Least 40 Dead After Egyptian Soccer Riot

At least 40 Egyptians were reportedly killed on Wednesday after a deadly riot ensued at a soccer game in Port Said – a city located in northeast Egypt.

Following a 3-1 victory by home team Al-Masry against Egypt’s top squad in Al-Ahly, fans swarmed the field in a crazy mix of celebration and violence. According to the National Post, the rioters threw stones and bottles at fans, security personnel and players, seriously injuring a number of folks from each group. When all was said and done, there were reportedly at least 40 deaths that came as a direct result of the riot.

Update: The New Zealand Herald is reporting that 73 are dead.
