Alkmaar goalie Esteban Alvarado got a rude introduction to crazy Ajax fans recently when one such 19-year-old fan jumped onto the field and attempted to rush him from behind. Fortunately, Alvarado saw the reportedly inebriated lunatic coming and handled the attack by tripping him and giving him two solid kicks to the body.
Security then dragged the beaten down nut from the field.
For his emphatic self-defense Alvarado earned a red card from referee Bas Nijhuis. Apparently, viciously kicking a person of obviously lacking intelligence is frowned upon in soccer.
After the game, Nijhuis defended his decision.

"I understand that Esteban was defending himself, but he walked to him [the supporter] and kicked him multiple times. He could also have walked away."
