Lionel Messi Leads Barcelona Past Valencia

| by

This was supposed to be a challenge.

Third place Valencia were in town to face second placed Barcelona. It looked like it would be a game as Valencia shocked the home crowd as Pablo Piatti scored inside of 10 minutes.

Barca's response was composed and clinical as they tore the visiting defense to shreds. Led by Lionel Messi, Barcelona ripped off 32 shots leaving Valencia keeper Diego Alves shellshocked.

Once again it was Lionel Messi leading the show.  No question the best player on the planet. Messi would notch a ridiculous four goals on the night with two on each side of halftime. He also found time to assist on the fifth goal setting up Xavi in injury time.

The impressive win leaves Barcelona ten points behind La Liga leading Real Madrid. Barring a collapse from the leaders Barcelona and the awesome Lionel Messi are destined for runners-up this year.
