Israeli Military Releases Video Of Alleged Firearm Exchange With Hamas (VIDEO)

| by Amanda Schallert

The Israeli military released a video Monday showing a fight in which Israeli military officers were successful in attacking members of Hamas at the opening of a tunnel.

The video shows 10 armed Palestinians, who are called terrorists in the video, hiding in bushes and trying to camouflage, according to the Blaze.

The Israel Defense Forces and the Palestinians exchange fire in the video before the Palestinians try to crawl away but are bombed by an Israeli jet. According to Israeli officials, the 10 Palestinians were killed.

A spokesman from the Israel Defense Forces said that Palestinian militants were planning to go into Israel through the tunnel and were split up into two groups.

One of the Palestinian squads allegedly fired an anti-tank missile at an Israel Defense Forces vehicle.

According to reports released later on Monday, Israeli officials said that four Israeli soldiers were killed in the exchange.

“We paid a heavy price, but we averted a grave disaster,” said Sami Turgeman, an Israel Defense Forces general. “There is no Iron Dome protection against tunnel infiltration.”

The video footage comes as the conflict between Hamas and Israel escalates. Israel, which started launching major air strikes on Gaza since July 8, has killed more than 400 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians, and injured more than 3,000 Palestinians. About 20 Israelis have been killed in the conflict too, and dozens have been injured, according to the Associated Press.

Israeli officials have claimed that the air strikes are a self defense measure, saying that Hamas is using civilians as human shields and has constructed tunnels that militants allegedly try to attack Israel Defense Forces from, as exemplified in the video.
