U.S. Women’s National Team goalie Hope Solo is great at two things: blocking shots and creating buzz. Lately it feels as though she’s been doing a lot more of the latter than the former.
You’ll recall, just a few weeks ago, while promoting her new book, Solo somehow managed to accuse two different men of physically assaulting her. This came shortly after she dedicated some of her Olympic spotlight to ripping announcer Brandi Chastain for no apparent reason. And that, of course, came a few years after she burned her teammates following a poor 2007 World Cup Showing.
The controversies have increased in frequency since the '07 mess.
This week, Solo is in the headlines once again – only this time it’s not really her fault.
On Tuesday, America's favorite goalie was shown on an episode of ESPN’s E:60 that documented her appearance in ESPN the Magazine’s Body Issue. There was absolutely nothing noteworthy about the bit at all, however, it did ultimately produce this picture (via @cjzero):
You’ll be seeing a lot of it today.
