Ahead of today’s Group C match between Croatia and Spain, leading odds comparison site Oddschecker.com can reveal that a 2-2 draw is currently the most likely outcome with a host of bookmakers.
That result is an outcome that would see both teams advance to the quarter-finals at the expense of group rivals Italy, and the odds have been cut dramatically from 20/1 before the last fixtures in the group, to as short as 7/2 today on the two teams playing out that score draw.
Popular VideoPeople were so furious about this Pepsi ad that Pepsi pulled it after just one day. Watch it here and decide if it's offensive:
The Italians are two points behind both Spain and Croatia and would be eliminated, regardless of their result against the Republic of Ireland, if the Spanish and Croatians collect a point each and add at least two goals to their overall tally.
As recently as eight years ago, Italy met the same cruel fate at Euro 2004. Despite beating Bulgaria in their final group game, the Italians crashed out following a 2-2 draw between Denmark and Sweden. A 2-2 draw that was exactly what both Scandinavian teams needed to qualify.
