At the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes this past Saturday, I’ll Have Another found a way to one-up his own Kentucky Derby performance. While this latest effort didn’t require the same sort of improbable, last-second comeback that we witnessed a few weeks back, the mere fact that this colt was able to speed past Bodemeister again and become the first horse to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown since 2008 is a ridiculous feat in itself.
Here is how the entire race shook out (via SportsGrid):
And the complete race results:
1. I’ll Have Another
3. Creative Cause
5. Teeth of the Dog
8. Tiger Walk
9. Daddy Nose Best
10. Went the Day Well
Now, all eyes will be on June 9’s Belmont Stakes. A win there, and I’ll Have Another will become the first horse to win the Triple Crown since 1978.
