UFC fighter Anderson Silva recently broke his leg during a match with middleweight champion Chris Weidman.

According to Time, Silva tried to kick Weidman with his left leg, but Weidman blocked Silva with his own left leg.

When they collided, the lower part of Silva’s leg snapped, bringing shock to the crowd and the fight announcers on Saturday night (video below).

"Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!" exclaimed one announcer.

The referee called a TKO (in the second round) after the horrific injury, which appears to be a snapped shinbone.

In July, Weidman also had a second round knock out against Silva, who had never lost a UFC fight and was the middleweight champion for seven years.

"That was the No. 1 one thing I got hit with in the first fight," Weidman told ESPN after his second victory. "I worked a lot against guys with good leg kicks. I actually would think, 'If he's going to go hard on a ton of these kicks like he usually does, I could hurt him.' But it's still crazy."

UFC president Dana White added, "[Silva] could come back, obviously, or it could be the end. We'll have to see. He's going into surgery right this second."
