Lindsey Vonn Leg Photo: Post-Surgery Picture

Superstar skier Lindsey Vonn found herself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons last week after a terrible fall at the Alpine Ski World Championships. When it was all said and done, her final injury count stood as follows: torn ACL and MCL in the right knee, a broken bone, plus countless scratches and bruises.

On Sunday, Vonn had surgery to repair some of the damage sustained, and she wasn’t shy about showing off the work done on her various social media accounts.

Here are some of the slightly gruesome photos of her knee post-operation:

“The overall success rate for ACL/MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery,” Dr. Bill Sterett, the physician who performed Vonn’s surgery, said in a statement. “She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing.”

Vonn is expected to be out for as long as eight months.
