In one of the craziest finishes in college basketball, Florida State defeated Florida 65-63 on a buzzer-beating “own goal,” Tuesday night.
With three seconds left and the score tied at 63, the Seminoles’ Devon Bookert got the inbound pass in the corner and fired a three pointer that missed short of the rim. But that’s when the Gators’ Jacob Kurtz tipped the ball in his own basket, giving the Seminoles two points and the win.
Seminoles’ guard Montay Brandon could not believe what he had witnessed.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
"That was crazy," said Brandon. "I thought he had a rebound. I guess it just slipped out of his hand. I don't know how to explain it, but I was just happy. At first I was looking around like, did that happen? Then I saw the scoreboard change and I was like, oh man, we're winning. I started going crazy."
The win snaps the Seminoles’ five-game losing streak against the Gators, dating back to 2008, so whether it’s an ugly win or not, the Seminoles will take it.
"It's one of those shots that went in that you shake your head about," Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said. "I've been on the other end of that so many times that I'll take that and be very happy."
