2012 Olympics Video: Weightlifter Matthias Steiner Drops 432 Pounds on His Neck

| by Alex Groberman

Certain sports at the 2012 London Olympics will inevitably get more attention than others, and it's mostly because those latter sports don't look as cool when you're watching them at home. Weightlifting, for example, just happens to not be all that compelling on TV.

Still, when something noteworthy happens at a weightlifting event – the world takes notice.

Something interesting happened on Tuesday.

German weightlifter Matthias Steiner is a former gold medalist and pretty good at his craft, but even guys as seasoned as him aren’t made of teflon.

How much did he drop on the back of his neck? Just measly ol’ 432 pounds. Shockingly enough, Steiner didn’t sustain any serious injuries from this incident.

The moral here? Don’t lift 432 pounds above your head. Ever.
