2012 Olympics Video: China’s Liu Xiang Crashes Out of 110-Meter Men’s Hurdles

| by Alex Groberman

Four years after withdrawing from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang crashed out of the 2012 London Games in shocking fashion.

With the whole world watching during Tuesday morning’s preliminary men's 110-meter heat, Liu fell victim to an Achilles tendon injury and ultimately left the competition without clearing a single hurdle.

Before making his way off the track, Liu hopped onto one leg and symbolically finished the race – putting the exclamation mark on it by kissing the final hurdle in his lane.

After Liu “finished” the race, Andrew Turner of Britain and Jackson Quiñónez of Spain helped him off the track.
