Video: Derek Morris Scores from Center Ice During Kings vs. Coyotes Game 1

| by Alex Groberman

Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick has had a fantastic year up to this point, and that’s probably what made the goal he gave up to Derek Morris on Sunday all the more surprising. In the first period of L.A.’s Game 1 Conference Finals battle versus the Phoenix Coyotes, Quick, a Vezina Trophy winner, surrendered a score from the red line to Morris in the most inexplicable fashion imaginable. The sheer ridiculousness of the play understandably shook Kings fans to their very core. Was this the end of Quick’s dominant run?

As it turns out – it wasn’t. The Kings ultimately won 4-2 on Sunday, and aside from that one minor blip on the radar, looked just as strong throughout this latest outing as they have over the entire playoff run.

Check out Quick missing a shot that looked like it was being taken from Phoenix in the video below:

Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, 6:00 p.m., pacific time.
