Hockey has the most diehard fans around, but the sport often struggles to attract new followers. If you ask any sports reporter, though, anyone who has covered a bunch of events over the course of their careers, they’ll tell you that the NHL’s postseason is arguably the most interesting and entertaining of any of the four major sports. Yet, for whatever reason, it consistently gets the lowest ratings.

How do you fix that?

Well, that’s a tough question to answer. Perhaps it would be easiest to start with what not to do. If you’re the NHL, do not, under any circumstances, promote this photo:


The St. Louis Blues are currently down 3-2 to the Los Angeles Kings, and they’ll likely be bounced from the postseason shortly. It’s probably safe to say at this point that this lady’s playoff beard isn’t working.
