Whitney Houston, inarguably one of the greatest singers of all time, died at age 48 on Saturday. While the latter, more controversial portion of Houston’s life may have come to overshadow her uniquely brilliant voice and transcendent star power, her contributions to music will live on forever through concert performances and audio recordings.
Before Super Bowl XXV in 1991, Houston delivered a masterful rendition of the National Anthem that has not only stood the test of time, but instantly became the measuring stick by which all future performances of the National Anthem would inevitably get compared to.
