Top Atlanta Falcons Players in 2012: Asante Samuel

| by

The NFL seems to be a bit inebriated with all of their top player "lists" that are coming out so we figured we should get into the fun. We put our collective heads together and have come up with the top ten players on the Atlanta Falcons roster according to the Grits Blitz Blog. Number ten was Falcons OL Tyson Clabo and number nine was RB Michael Turner. Number ten is someone who has not yet played a down for the Falcons.

Samuel is a four time pro bowler and a three time all-pro. He also has won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and has tied for the league lead in interceptions twice. He has 45 career regular season interceptions with ten coming over the last two years (three last season). Here is what the guys had to say about the man who uses @pick_six22 as his twitter handle:

Matt: I feel a bit weird claiming Samuel on my top 10, but I have been a fan of his since he played for New England.  Samuel has been known as a gambler, but is much better in coverage than he is given credit for.  His addition to our secondary may finally turn our weakest position into an elite group of defensive backs.

Mike: Clearly the most talented player on the defense, and he should be a cornerstone and mentor to the younger corners. I look for him to trhive in Nolan's scheme. After all, he is "Mr Pick Six".

Zach: The newly accquired Asante Samuel, while older is still a playmaking corner, he can also shut down WRs and make QBs think twice before throwing in his direction, make one mistake in Asante's vicinity and not only could it be an interception, but it could also turn into a pick six.
