There is nothing wrong with Tim Tebow. Based on everything we know about him, the New York Jets’ backup quarterback is a good, reasonable, legitimate dude who’s just trying to make it in this world like the rest of us. There is something wrong with the way Tebow is covered, however. The fanaticism and polarization he commands, from both sides, is hilarious and pitiful all at the same time.
Originally, folks hoped that the insanity would die out after a while and that we wouldn’t be subjected to this nonsense day after day, week after week, month after month. Obviously that didn’t pan out. ESPN has redubbed itself the World Wide Leader in Tebow and appears to be on a mission to promote their boy to no end.
Fine. So be it.
If ESPN wants to cover Tebow’s football exploits just for the sake of doing it – whatever. Unfortunately, because Tebow can’t actually seem to find his way onto the field this year, ESPN can’t cover his football exploits. That means they’re faced with a dilemma: cover actual football and ignore the golden boy or cover the golden boy even though most of the stuff pertaining to him right now has nothing to do with what he actually does for a living?

They went with option B. Here is a taste of an interview that ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini did with Tebow recently:
Q: With your popularity, especially in Florida, would you ever consider running for political office after you're done with football?
A: I haven't ruled it out. Whatever avenue I feel like I can make a difference in, I'd love to do. I haven't ruled out anything like that. It won't be anytime soon in my future, but it'll be something I'll at least look at and consider one day.
So there you go. Tebow will be your President one day, and ESPN will switch from covering sports to covering politics the second he announces his intention to run.
